1. Mount Agung Hiking From Pura Pasar Agung (south)
In a three to four hour hike in which time you go up about 2,000 meters.
Not as solid as the Besakih route. The route ends about 100 meter below the actual summit, but the views are still outstanding in any directions, as well as down into the actual crater.
A sensible starting time would be about 2:00 AM, again in order to reach the peak of the Mount Agung right before dawn.
2. Mount Agung Hiking From Besakih (west)
This is the best routes of hiking in Mount Agung. This is an exciting hiking starting nearby Besakih temple which is become the most screed Hindu temple in Bali. Hike through the solid jungle of Besakih Village. The ascent will be takes approximately 6 to 7 hours and ends at the highest point of the mountain.
Agung hiking is ideally started at about 11PM, so that you arrive at the top before dawn and wait for the sunrise. From here you are able to witness the stunning sunrise overlooking Mount Rinjani in Lombok Island and the magnificent view on giant crater of Caldera Batur with its Lake Batur.
